Test methods for fretting corrosion testing of tibial component stem extensions

This SpineServ internal test standard describes the fretting corrosion test methods for stem extensions of tibial trays. Basically, the procedure follows the ASTM F1875 standard.

The following fretting corrosion test methods are available:

• Method I - long-term testing
• Method II - short-term electrochemical evaluation either as Method II, Procedure A (measurement of the corrosion potential) or as Method II, Procedure B (measurement of the corrosion current)
