Standard practice for finite element analysis (FEA) of non-modular metallic orthopaedic hip femoral stems

The ASTM F2996 practice covers the numerical simulation of non-modular metallic orthopaedic hip stems using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques for the estimation of stresses and strains. The loading conditions are taken from ISO 7206-4. This approach may be used for selection of the worst-case size prior to physical testing.
