Standard specification and test methods for external skeletal fixation devices

The ASTM F1541 standard provides test methods for the characterization of the mechanical properties of external skeletal fixation devices (ESFD).

Various tests may be carried out:

• Static or dynamic tests on single components such as screws or pins
• Static or dynamic tests on subassemblies that include connecting elements
• Static or dynamic tests on the whole construct
